Milonga Yerba Mate is a tree comprised of many roots. Father & son duo Samer and Shadi Atassi decided to create something new. Something unique. With deep South American roots and an appreciation for the invigorating properties of yerba mate, they embarked on a journey to craft an experience that harmonizes tradition with innovation.
Our Story
Milonga was born from something simple yet powerful: the need for connection. Our founder, Shadi, grew up in South Florida with a lifelong love for soccer. At 19, he moved to Argentina to chase a professional career — and that’s where he first discovered mate.
Before practices and after meals, teammates would gather to share a mate gourd. It wasn’t just about the drink; it was about slowing down, being present, and having real conversations. That daily ritual sparked something bigger — the seed that grew into Milonga.

Of course, mate has natural caffeine, antioxidants, and amino acids. But in Argentina, that’s not why people drink it. They drink it because it brings people together. It’s a tradition built on connection, and that spirit is at the heart of everything we do at Milonga.

Together with his dad, Shadi started Milonga with one simple goal: to share that same feeling of connection with as many people as possible. What began as loose leaf yerba mate has now grown into a line of infused mate beverages — made to bring people closer, one sip at a time.

In just 18 months, Milonga has expanded into over 500 locations nationwide. We’re humbled and grateful for everyone who’s been part of the journey so far. This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see where it leads.
